The Kids & Wayland's Fun Run

Like any other parent with multiple children, I got used to saying "the kids" when referring to Wayland and Amelia. After Wayland passed, I would have to catch myself when my instinct was to say "the kids" because it was only Amelia here with us on earth now. It was just another moment of grief that other people may not know or understand, another reminder that Wayland is gone. But now, as many of you know, we are so blessed with the arrival our son, George Wayland, on August 10, 2016, and I can again say "kids" when referring to my children. I can't even explain how much of a relief and cause for joy that is for me. Whenever I say it now, I stop and think for a moment before I can reassure myself that yes, George is here, I again have 2 children on earth. I have "kids!" It really is an amazing feeling and I am so grateful for George's addition to our family.

It is September now, Childhood Cancer Awareness. I know we all have many causes to remember and support, but I also know many of you have taken on our cause to fight for a cure for DIPG and to support all families and children affected by Pediatric Cancer. Therefore I want to share about the Ball State FT5K and Wayland's Fun Run taking place this month. The Ball Stat Dance Marathon students arrange this annual event to raise money for Riley and they have so graciously added the fun run in honor of Wayland and so we are proud to stand by them at this event each year as well. We invite you to join us at this great event.

MY STORY

My original endeavor was to share our story of losing a child to a brain tumor and our journey to help find a cure for pediatric brain cancer. That is not changing, but our journey is. Let me take you along.
